Japan logs record deflation as demand slides
Not wanting to throw cold water on anybody's parade, but this is one of my nagging concerns here at home as enormous overhead supply in housing isn't being worked off due to Herculean Govvy efforts to flood liquidity into the economy in an effort to stave off what some "perma-bears" term the inevitable.. I'm bringing the subject up because I just saw the below report out of Japan which has struggled with deflation in much the same way after the Tokyo real-estate collapse. There, the reasons weren't so much the result of immediate Govvy action as they were because the financial Zaibatsu refused to write down their bad loans in a vain attempt to save "face" (long ingrained in Asian societies). Yet our Govvy action attempting to keep people in their homes is potentially prolonging the "physics" of the cyclical supply/demand calculus.
I'm neither educated well enough nor posessing of sufficient native intelligence to work through the multitude of possible permutations and come up with a cogent conclusion one way or the other - simply stating in public something that's been ringing in my inner ear for months now...

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese core consumer prices fell a record 1.7 percent in the year to June, with weakening consumer demand for goods playing an increasing part in pushing the country deeper into its second spell of deflation this decade.
It was the fourth straight month of decline, matching a median market forecast and accelerating from a 1.1 percent drop in May in another sign the world's second-largest economy is stuck in the doldrums with rising job losses and falling wages hurting household spending.
