Overseas weakness colors US screens slightly blue
A/O 05:10 CDT, Dow pre-opening futures off 34 points against backdrop of overseas weakness…
Nikkei’s lowest close in two weeks on Wednesday, as techs fell after weaker U.S. consumer data. Honda picked up over 3 percent after it surprised with a near triple annual profit forecast that some say may still be conservative, bumping it further ahead of rivals thanks to motorcycles and a heavily weighted small car lineup. In light trade, Nikkei225 shed 1.4 percent or 137.41 points to 10,075.05, the lowest close since Oct. 14…
Hong Kong shares fell again on Wednesday, as Wynn Macau was dumped after its parent painted a gloomy outlook, even as the airlines moved higher. Shanghai’s index ended 0.33 percent higher in shrinking turnover, rebounding from the day's lows with coal and airline shares rising after strong earnings reports. The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 1.84 percent or 408.01 points to 21,761.58, its lowest level in more than a week.

Euro shares hit a three-week low on Wednesday as investors digested earnings including results from BG Group and Banco Santander, with energy and banking stocks weakest of the litter. FTSEurofirst300 down 0.8 percent at 991.28 points after falling to a low of 990.33, the lowest since Oct 8. “Europe is going to just drift for the time being. There is very little reason to drive anything forward," said Justin Urquhart Stewart, director at Seven Investment Management. "Later, Europe will be looking to take its lead from U.S. durable goods and U.S. home sales figures to see if they are any signs of sustainability," he said.
