Commodities Tomorrow
(note from Moi):
OK - that was fun...
(below story posted before this one mostly in jest).
This interview is more in line with our "norms"... (ties in rather nicely with the solution presented there, tho)....
Brian, a lot of the executives here at this energy conference have a lot to say about how we could lower the high prices we're seeing for energy. One of them is to use natural gas more. Here with the CEO of Apache (Energy: Ed), Steve Ferris, to talk a lib about his outlook for natural gas and what strong production we're seeing from Apache in light of the fact that costs remain so low.
How is that attainable?
Well, (last year: Ed) today we grew our production about 14%. We're projecting our production to grow from 7% to 13% higher. We averaged about 750,000 bpd of (extractable: Ed)liquids in natural gas last year....

5 bucks per Gal will not end Civilization...
... we have to wait till December 21st for that.
(note from moi):
I've elected to show a slice of a currently-running reprise piece on Gas prices by Sharon Epperson. It both builds & expands upon a mid-February video interview with the ex-Shell-OilCo CEO and I presume Sharon's intent is to present a counterpoint to the widely-held and thus (often) self-fulfilling prophesy of 5 buck/gal Gas prices by summer or even Memorial day.
Anybody care to hear my thoughts on the subject?
(gonna tell u anyway).....
Get over it!!!
The Brit snobs and Euro punks (relax, if u knew what I think about US, you'd understand I employ those terms with a liberal dollop of admiration and maybe even a touch of envy)...
Where.. AH! - Brits and Euros have been paying upwards of 5 bucks for GENERATIONS now.
Yeah, Imperial Gallons and varying currency translations but (still) Get over it!!
Yes, we usually drive greater distances - but even that's been cut down since the days I commuted 1.5 hrs each way in LA rush-hour traffic. (OK - had a Co Lincoln Continental (?) and Co gas cards), and 3 hours/day is a great excuse for dropping by the Polo Lounge to avoid freeway traffic - but even that gets old eventually.
Then, we had a series of ARAB OIL EMBARGOS to contend with and it didn't matter what price you or your Company was willing to pay - you still had to wait an hour or more to gas up and only on odd or even days depending on your car license number (this, before vanity plates).
repeating for effect: GET OVER IT!!
or - (better yet)
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
Solve Teheran's growing parking problem.
or
Get the "bi-partisan" politicians out of the way as we march towards the true oil independence they seem determined to deny us...
or
BOTH!!!
(soap box closed, back to the media drivel):
Predictions that gas prices will rise to $5 a gallon or higher by Memorial Day are running rampant.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has jumped nearly 30 cents in the past month to $3.76 a gallon, according to AAA.
A spike to $5 a gallon for the national average by the summer would mean that the rise in gas prices over the next few months would have to exceed the 8 percent climb we've seen over the past four weeks.
Is it possible? Perhaps. Inevitable? Not really.
