Iranians Voting in "Droves"
Seems to me if the nut-case in Iran is ousted there would HAVE to be some positive blowback on the risk premium in oil prices. In our case it might not be a benefit if you're trading on the long side.
I'm reminded of meetings I participated in as a board member of the Orange County (Calif.) World Affairs Council back in the 90's when discussions on middle east tensions invariably came to the conclusion lower oil prices would remove a universal "tax" on economic activity here at home. Currently, it seems a more moderate Iran might also militate to an earlier pullout from Iraq - thus saving billions of bucks we're shoveling into that mess which could have all kinds of other benefits in this economic environment.
If the youngsters in Iran are finally voting in droves, it's likely the hardliners could be thrown out on their collective asses. This could also result in election nullification which would probably only serve to exacerbate concerns over the region.
Isn't this fun?
