Goldman Internal Hedge Fund Report
An in-depth read from Goldman Sachs internal reportage on Hedgistan. The majority of the data was taken from SEC filings and public disclosures. In the report, Goldman specifically focuses on hedge fund re-risking and the fact that these funds now have net long exposure near levels unseen in a long time.
Some interesting points from the piece:
- Hedge funds now own 3.7% of the financial sector's market cap.
- Ownership of financials boosted 55% on a Q/Q basis, to $70Byn.
note: the "Scribd" embedded reader I've used below is very slick - report is 43 pages long including many charts, but there's no apparent loading delay in the viewing process and in the upper right corner, one can toggle full screen mode. From within full screen mode, there's also a magnification function which will blow up the text size for people like me. The report itself is supremely well done and as complete an analysis of the Hedge Fund industry as I've ever seen - including info on the Managed Futures sub-sector which concerns those of us in the asset-allocation space...
