Asia stocks hit by Wall St; Aussie GDP upbeat
Asian markets intermittantly shrank on Wednesday taking Wall Street’s lead, which in turn took its lead from Euro markets last nite – isn’t this fun? This, even as upbeat Australian eco-growth numbers reassured on the health of their recovery.
Japan's Nikkei 225 led losses with a drop of over 2 percent after a slide in financials hit U.S. markets Tuesday. A drop in oil prices the previous day also took a toll on resource shares. Global manufacturing surveys on Tuesday heralded further evidence recovery accelerated in August. JPM's global factory activity gauge expanded for the first time in well over a year. China trade decidedly mixed with Hang Seng off 1.6% while Shanghai recovered some of previous day’s vicious decline.
Apparently Australia’s Fed is poised to be the first among major cen-bank to start raising rates and normalizing the extremely loose policies aimed at reviving the global economy.
Here’s the problem (at least as it appears to me) – this whole magilla has been “ARTIFICIALLY INSEMINATED”.....
The insemination may have taken, but the fetus is mal-formed and weak to the point it may not survive once delivered – jobless recovery thus far totally dependent on cost-cutting measures and anticipated to continue (if at all) through technology breakthroughs further exacerbating the joblessness as productivity continues to grow on the backs of a few remaining workers using hi-tech equipment to produce ever more goods and services for…..whom?
The Chinese? The same Chinese from whence have come a gaggle of billionaires who seem to be making a killing manufacturing copyright-infringed electronic knock-offs, fake Rolexes, Hermes, Vuitton and Gucci.
The question remains – who’s gonna buy OUR stuff if we can’t afford it ourselves? There goes Henry Ford’s USP (Unique Selling Proposition).
Overnite screen trade essentially unchanged with a slight upward bias a/o 12:45 CDT
