Nikkei edges lower as strong yen hits exporters
Asian trade appears confused as Yen strength foments fears of higher export prices discouraging whatever US sales might remain to be had in a jobless recovery. Chi-Com trade in both Hong Kong and Shanghai slightly elevated on Govvy back-tracking relative to hinting over last 2 weeks at upcoming tightening measures and methods. The Chinese people are weighing this (pragmatists that they've long been) against several of their indices having broken their widely accepted 125 day m/a to the downside. US screen trade also decidedly uncertain as can be seen in below 23:45 CDT snapshot.
TOKYO, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average lost 0.4 percent on Thursday as exporters fell on worries about the U.S. economy after dismal jobs data. The dollar briefly dropped below 92.00 yen for the first time since mid-July as investors continued to trim dollar holdings after the jobs report, putting additional pressure on exporters, but recovered slightly and was flat at 92.16 yen.
SHANGHAI, Sept 3 (Reuters) - China's key stock index opened up 0.27 percent on Thursday, with four small firms making a strong debut in Shenzhen, after a top securities regulator assured investors that the country's market was healthy and that there would be continued support for blue-chip companies.
Many Chinese investors still consider the index to have technically entered bear market territory, however, after it closed below the closely watched 125-day moving average for a third day
